Kim Do-ha was a famous composer/producer who in order to hide his identity lives almost isolated and often wears a mask in public. In the new place accorded by Cho Deuk-chan, the CEO of his agency, he met Mok Sol-hee his neighbor who became her only friend in the neighborhood since it was Mok Sol-hee who sided with him in defense after he was accused due to a mistaken identity as the wanted pervert being chased in the neighborhood.

Do Ha's new place gave him that needed peace and privacy especially thanks to his new neighbor and friend - Mok Sol-hee who unknown to him was his former school mate when they were still young.

Durian's Affair - Episode 8: The Twists of Fate

 Adapting and experiencing to the perks and convenience of their new world, Du Ri An and Seol Jo likewise got to know and meet each member of the Dan Family and how each one of them was related to their past lives in the Joseon era. 

One night after dinner, Dan Chi-jung, the youngest son of the family offered to take them for a walk around the neighborhood.  The two were amazed and in awe as to how the surroundings were fully lit as if it were as bright as the daytime due to the numerous different kinds of luminated signs and lights on the streets where Dan Chi-jung tool them on the way to a convenience store. As the two women continue to wonder and seemed to be unfamiliar with things around, Dan Chi-jung began to suspect and think they were folks from a distance and still uncivilized place from the outskirts of Korea.

They happen to pass by a filming set and the two odd women in hanbok caught the eye of the director of the production who wanted to book them in as extras to the film.  Dan Chi-jung explained to them what it was all about and mentioned that the job they were doing were similar to that of his nephew Dan Deung-myung's job. - acting.  A production crew approached them and offerred the two women to be extras on the film.  Dan Chi-jung took the opportunity to negotiate in their behalf to cut a better fee as payment for acting as extras.  Dan Chi-jung was delighted to see them act and earn cash for a short period of time.  They thought and realized that their Eon was in fact in a better profession as an actor and was earning money well and they have somehow felt relief about how their Eon have become surprisingly successful in this future they were experiencing. 

Later, as she was about to sleep, Ri An recalls that Dan Chi-jung which was Park Il-soo and her husband in the past was very meticulous, superstitious and sickly.  Whereas the current Dan Chi-jung was a very health buff person and an easy-going voyeur who enjoys his being single life.

Another twist in the fate of the Dan family was the oddity of the relationship of Dan Chi-gang who was a faithful husband and father to Dan Deung-myung.  But his wife, Jang Se-mi was intimately in love with Do Yi, his mother.

As Ri An and Seol Jo get to know the members of the Dan family, Ri An felt the strong connection of the members of the Dan family to her past and the close connection to her personal affairs, especially the matters relating to her very own family and love life.  She got to know more of their present lives and compares the past and how they become in the present time.

She and Seol Jo also took the opportunity to learn about their new world in order to adapt within their circle.  They were both thankful for the opportunity given to them by the heavens in order to continue seeing and living as close as as possible to their beloved Eon.

Durian's Affair - Episode 6: The Strangely Entangled Past of the Future

 

Ri An and Seol Jo had the opportunity to visit other houses of the Dan family and got to meet the family members of their benefactor.  But as they meet each member of the Dan family Ri An was becoming more and more familiar of their relationship in her past life.

Dan Deung-myung after visiting his uncle Dan Chi-gam and checking on the two ladies his uncle has taken in after the mishap from his grandmother's birthday party.  He decided to bring the ladies into his parent's house to meet them and to get along with.  Ri An was so shocked to see that Dan Deung-myung's father was Dan Chi-gang, the eldest son of Chairwoman Baek Do-Yi.  Dan Chi-gang was also the nobleman Kim and the father of her mother in-law Madame Kim back in the Joseon era.  Dan Chi-gang was married to Jang Se-mi and who was Eon's mother in the current era she was with. 

Ri An was married to Park Il-soo in the past.  But his former husband was now Chairwoman Do-Yi's youngest son, Dan Chi-jung.  The mix-up of her past and present left Du Ri An utterly shocked.

Durian's Affair - Episode 5: The Bond of Love

 

Although they were clueless and amazed with their new surroundings, Ri An and Seol Jo were both thankful to the people who took them in and nourish them back to health. 

Ri An and Seol Jo were still puzzled as to why the people around them were so familiar and somewhat related from where they have come from.  But most importantly they were so thankful to the heavens that they were able to see their beloved Eon healthy and alive and a member of the kindhearted family that took them in.

Seol Jeo who was so ecstatic to see his husband Eon alive in the person of the famous actor Dan Deung-myung and a member of the family who took her and her mother-in-law into their home.

 

Ri An even secretly thanked and talked to Dan Chi-gam's photo for being alive and seemed to be more respectable and noble than what his status being a lowly farmhand when they were in the Joseon era.  

The bond of love for each other between Park Eon & Kim So-jeo as well as for Dol-soe & Du Ri-an seems to have made the miracle of reuniting once again.

Durian's Affair - Episode 4: Memory of the Mismatched Past

After waking up from their long sleep due to exhaustion, Ri An and Seol Jeo got to meet the different members of the Dan family through their constant interaction as they continue to live within the family. 

Memories of their connection in the past were recalled every after-encounter meeting with them.

Dan Deung-myung was Eon, the son of Ri An and husband of Seol Jeo. Dan Chi-Gam was the Dol-soe their family's able and reliable helper who was also her secret admirer back then.  Dan Chi-gang who was the eldest son was Ri An's husband in the Joseon era of her life. And the Dan family's matriarch, Baek Do Yi was Ri An's mother-in-law of the past.

Durian's Affair - Episode 3: A Strange New World

Ri An and Seol Jo were taken to Dan Chi-Gam's mansion after passing out in front of the car where Dan Chi-Gam and his wife was passing by after attending their mother's 70th birthday party.

Dan Deung-myung visited his uncle's mansion to check on the two women.  He found them still unconcious though his uncle have already sought medical help to check on them and IVs were inserted on them to keep them nourished and hydrated. 

So-jeo was the first to open her eyes as Dan Deung-myung was staring at her in wonder.  Recognizing Dan Deung-myung's face as Eon, So-jeo immediately hugged him as she try to get up.  Seeing them hug each other, Dan Chi-Gam's wife asked if they knew each other which Dan Deung-myung denied although he tries hard to recall So-jeo's seemingly familiar face.

Later, Ri An also wakes up and the two women continued to wonder seeing Eon in Dan Deung-myung as they equally was amazed at the things and people around them.

Durian's Affair - Episode 2: Ri An's Protector

Dan Deung-myung, a famous young actor and the celebrant's grandson announced during the party that his grandmother's birthday coincided with a rare celestial event and urged the guests outside by the pond to view and witness it.  The guests were led outside by the pond to view it.

As the guests were busy watching the eclipse in the sky, Ri An and So-Jeo emerged out of the waters in the pond and managed to wander out of the sight of the party guests.

They managed to walk by the road where they were almost hit by a car as they both of them passed out and was brought to the Dan's second son Dan Chi-Gam's mansion where they rested and recuperate.  It is there where Ri An recognized Dan Chi-Gam's resemblance to Dol-soe, her parent's farmhand. back in the Joseon era. Dol-soe was her secret admirer and has been her constant protector from all harm. But he has no memory of her whatsoever in the current time.

Durian's Affair - Episode 1: The Moon Stone

 A joyous occassion takes place inside the big mansion of the Dan family.  It was the 70th birthday of the Dan matriarch and Chairwoman of the Dan's business conglomerate - Baek Do-Yi. The occassion of the 70th birthday of Baek Do-Yi also coincided with a celestial event of a lunar eclipse and guests of the party tried to view it by the pond inside the family property. 

All her sons were present in the occasion.  As the family gathered to have a nice family chat after the party, the topic of marriage was quite going interesting as Dan Chi-jung, the family's youngest son brought up his upcoming marriage and the qualities of a good woman as a wife.

But the topic was not a welcome idea for Jang Se-mi, Chi-gang's wife who turns out to have other intention blurted out and confessed to the family during the conversation that she was does not love Chi-gang and was actually in love to her husband's mother and her mother-in-law, Baek Do-Yi.

In the same moment, back in Joseon era, Ri An was chasing after her daughter in law So-jeo who seems to have tormented mind due to the death of her husband and Du Ri An's son Eon. So-jeo attempted to end her life by lying under the gigantic water turbines of the town's water mill. But her mother-in-law, Du Ri An came to rescue her.  As the water turbines resumes its cycle of drawing water from the pond and roll its powerful turbines.  The mother and daughter in law found themselves submerged in the pond and gasped to the surface for air. The moon stone beside the pond glistened under the light of the moon in eclipse as if a magical event just happened.

The women got out of the water and tried to scout the unfamiliar surroundings they are seeing for the first time.  They found themselves standing in front a car beaming its lights unto them.  They both passed out due to exhaustion and shock as the passengers of the car tried to rescue them while the moon beams back its light after the eclipse had passed.

Durian's Affair

Formerly entitled:  Mrs. Durian.  Durian's Affair is a time travel fantasy series on the life of Du Ri An, a woman who vowed to the heavens to safeguard and uphold her womanly virtues even through the lapse of time and age.

In the turn of some misfortunate life events, Du Ri An and Kim So-jeo, a mother and daughter in law nobles from the Joseon era travels through time and find themselves in the current year inside the property of the rich Dan family.  Their lives were entangled within the lives of the  well-known and rich Dan family who owns business conglomerates in the country.
